Come on, people. This is an obvious reference to Final Fantasy 6 (or FF3 for the Super Nintendo). The airship is owned by the white-haired Setzer Gabbiani, a wandering gambler. The blue warrior is Cyan Garamonde, a noble swordsman. The blonde with the white cape is Celes Chere, a sword-mage of sorts. The girl with the green hair is Terra Branford, a half-magical creature and one of the "main" characters of the FF6 story. The young mushroom-hat girl is Relm Arrowny, a painter/monster summoner The old guy behind her is Strago Magus, Relm's grandfather and Blue Mage (a wizard that specializes in the magic/special abilities of monsters). Nale is disguised as Locke Cole, a thief and the impromptu leader of the FF group. Thog is disguised as Mog, a magical creature that has a special kind of dance magic. (The Moogle race feature prominently through the older FF games.) When Cyan comments on not having the "Magic" ability due to it being only the first part of the story... in the FF game, characters lean magic through beings (called Espers) in the form of crystal shards (called Magicite). They are equipped like, well, equipment, and they gain "spell points" (similar to xp) after fights. When a spell is 100% "learned", the character adds it to his "sheet". At the start of the game, only two characters (Terra and Celes) begin with the ability to use magic. "Aqua Rake" is a special ability that Strago can learn from a monster; it creates a water-based attack that hits all enemies with bubbles (IIRC). "Fenix Down" is a feather from a Phoenix that revives characters who have swooned, or dropped to 0 HP. The spelling is a result of bad translation, or to save character space on the item screen. Thog says "Kupo", which is a common expression among Moogles. I'm not terribly sure what it means. And I don't think they ran... I think they got hurled off the airship. :)
