Same here, Rich seems to be going out his way to tease us here. Some OotS fans need to be beaten over the head to realize a character is evil (*cough* Belkar). I think Rich is making sure we all know just where Tarquin lies on the alignment chart even though his alignment has been clearly stated. Tarquin is too genre savvy to play that card. Likely he sees Elan as being pretty naive, so he'll use him as some sort of Unwitting Pawn instead. However, whatever plot Tarquin has up his sleeve seems to involve that ass Draketooth. It would be interesting to see exactly what going on here with Tarquin and Draketooth. It would also be very interesting if Roy decides to go along with it even if Elan is being used as a dupe because going along with Tarquin may help them against the Snarl. I doubt Roy will mention the Snarl to Tarquin, since he probably can't be trusted with knowing about it, but he may lie or at least bend the truth and say he will cooperate with Tarquin to bring dwon Xykon. I also can't wait to find out what happens when Tarquin learns Roy is one of Elan's associates.
