Message: <blockquote data-quote="Ma'varkith" data-source="post: 86919" data-attributes="member: 16">OOC:  Deedlit, I take it you have never read any of the novels or the RPG that the Lodoss OAV and series were based on.  While the creators did, the characters don't speak Japanese in Lodoss.  In the source material upon which the Anime is based, the language spoken is called "the Common Tongue" and is descended from the languages of ancient Kastul and Alecrast.In addition,  person and place names are written out phonetically using Katakana, which shows that they are decidedly non-Japanese words.   The setting was presented as a "generic western fantasy" world, and Japanese honorifics did not appear in the writing.  I don't recall any honorifics appearing in the Manga or Anime, either.../OOC</blockquote>
