Open Gaming Content databases

Well, that was fun

I need a list of ideas for individual OGC databases which would be useful. Any game/system. Not an SRD, but specific databases. So each of the following is an individual database.

Pathfinder (fairly obvious; same for 3.5)

- Pathfinder NPCs
- Pathfinder Spells
- Pathfinder Feats
- Pathfinder Magic Items

For my own use:

- FASA starship stats (Star Trek)

What else?

(It doesn't even have to be game mechanics; other stuff might be useful in database format).

d20pfsrd.com has a number of these already (everything except the NPC one, I think): Spells, Feats, Magic Items. Ooops, looks like I was wrong. NPCs are available as well.

I, myself, would be interested in the same for D&D, so if someone gets this information to you, please share it?

Yeah, I know SRDs exist for various games. I was thinking about different formats for data - user created (and crowd sourced) databases of various info types. I imagine that will be especially useful for newish or upcoming games.

I'm afraid you've somewhat lost me. The links I gave are to databases of the items listed. Why would outside users create additional databases if John Reyst and his staff already have? Maybe I just misunderstood the question?

Yup, that's why I was asking for other ideas! OGC material in general. 3.5 (as you suggested), other fan created or third party stuff, other games. Pathfinder is the fairly obvious (and already existent) example.

Although additional alternate web formats/presentation for existing data wouldn't be a terrible thing - more choice is always good. Though non-existent databases would probably be the priority. Or, well, whatever people wanted to create.

Okay. Ideas, then. I'd love to have databases of the various parts of the newest version of Arcanis. The first version of Arcanis used D&D 3.5, but they changed systems completely and started using their own. I did get a start on it, with the intent of creating a character creator, but never got very far.

Is it Open? If so, that'll go on the list!

I'm thinking things like:

As always, there be nomenclature differences.

In my parlance, those things you list would be examples of tables of information within a larger Database.

I had got my hands on a d20 SRD database (and I mean in the full sense). It was a SQL script to create and populate lookup tables for feats, monsters, skills, spells, attributes, equipment etc. If it was in the SRD, they put it in there.

THAT is a database.

Anyway, I'm certain that d20 SRD database can be found again, and used to populate your own concept of a Database quite easily. that would jump start the d20 equivalent for you.
