Open Grave Excerpts: Kas the Betrayer

Looks like a fair excerpt. Kas has clearly gone beyond his Greyhawk roots as a henchman foil into being a more planar-based villain in his own right.

I'm having trouble understanding his Mist Form.

It says that he becomes insubstantial and can fly until the end of his next turn but he can maintain this form up to one hour?

So can he effectively remain insubstantial and fly for one hour or until his next round?

It's also an encounter power so he can't transform into a mist and back then do it again after that.

The power normally lasts until the end of his next turn, but it can be sustained with a minor action. It can't be sustained for more than 1 hour. And yes it's an encounter power so it can only be used once per fight.

Ack! Missed the sustain keyword. Thanks for pointing that out. ;)

This looks really cool, and I love Kas's design...

But I really, really hate that pic. :( Recycled or not, it's not even remotely the way I pictured him, and it certainly doesn't seem fearsome enough.

Still, everything else looks nifty enough.

I don't mind recycled art myself as a way of keeping costs down.

Of course, I'd prefer it if they used the old black & white or blue interior art of 2e, since it is my favourite, so what do I know?

In a throwaway picture, sure, recycle pictures of staves, wands, boots or some other magic item.

But a legendary, epic character with TWO artifacts named after him and an ongoing vendetta against one of the main gods of the setting?
