Hey all, I wrote up this letter to WOTC Mel, the Wizards Community Manager about "fixing" the problems with the WotC chat site... Feel free to copy it and send it yourself to her. The more that do the more she may listen. <-------------- CUT HERE -------------------> Dear Mel, Wizards Community Manager: I am writting you in an urgent plea to make the online chat more compatible with all users. The current iChat software is "buggy" at best and totally unusable at worst. Many of my friends, myself included, have had and continue to have difficulties using the chat. These range from not being able to connect upto receiving the Blue Screen of Death on our systems. Others of cant get any support from iChat as they dont have a Windows OS or the right browser. MAC is not even supported by iChat and it seams the same with Wizards. :( I know that you may have heard all of this before but please consider the number of gamers that go elsewhere to chat since they cannot access the Wizards community. Why not combine forces with the other gamer communities out there ... The most popular one is EN World which took over from Eric Noah after the release of 3rd Edition. ( http://www.enworld.org ) EN World's community has message boards and most importantly an accessable to all chat. Any java enabled browser works from virtually all Operating Systems. Even WebTV is able to use the chat. And because it's IRC based, you can use an IRC client program if you prefer. And those are available for every operating system. EN World doesnt host its own chat, it's hosted by the Psionics.Net IRC Network ( http://www.psionics.net ) and they also host several other gaming company chats and many private games. Why not use Psionics for the Wizards chat community? Contact them and tell them you want to have them host your chat! Make Wizards chat something to remember and accessable instead of something to forget and avoid because it's hard to use. Just my 2 cents worth iChatter <-------------- END CUT ---------------------> Remember to take my name off and sign it yourself! Her email address is community@wizards.com
