Howdy folks! Now that I have my nifty [Publisher] tag I'm gonna try to do a thing and see if there's any interest. Basically, this is an open discussion of a previously released 5E supplement with its author... me! Think of it as a casual AMA where anyone interested can ask about the design, management, or marketing of the topic. I'll try to keep the intro short and sweet 😅 So, back in May of 2020, I released my second product on the DMs Guild; a collection of d100 tables and some supporting rules called Wild Magic for Every Class. It had been two years since my first outing (Last Stand: A Worthy Death, a story for another day), and I was in a very "screw it" place with my career. The new product was conceived as something not for me, but for more "chaotic", loosey and/or goosey players who just want to chomp on a prompt. I managed to wrangle the same painterly artist, Matthew Dobrich, who had worked with me on Last Stand. I learned InDesign over the course of the project, having hired a friend to do it the first time around. Ultimately, Wild Magic for Every Class would be my most successful release thus far, and my first to cross Platinum! I know we have some Adamantine best-sellers lurking around here, but for me as a solo developer, this was a big deal 🥲 There's a lot more to say about hitting daily self-imposed content quotas and pivoting from pay-what-you-want to fixed price post-launch.
