I can't believe I still haven't picked up this book yet. Anyhow, I've heard a lot of great things about it. I'd just get it because it is... BLACKMOOR!

Blackmoor was the second supplement i ever picked up. i paid $5.

i wasn't too keen on the hit locations stuff, so we never used them.

but i did like the rest of the supplement. like the new monster descriptions and the Temple of the Frog. even added the monk and assassin classes to the campaign.

It's interesting, but I doubt I'll ever use it. I just like looking at campaign settings, and, well, I was at GenCon. I woke up outside the dealer hall with it in my hands.

I bought it more out of reverence for the lesser known creator of D&D. (Heh, while buying it we asked a teenage gamer if he knew the name Dave Arneson. "Nope". Gary Gygax? "Oh yeah.")

The campaign world itself I'll probably never use (much like Greyhawk, Wheel of Time, well most published game worlds).

It has some interesting additions & changes.
A wizard can go without a spellbook if they have special gem that stores their spells.
Gnomes can do more with clockworks and such.
It has a long history that has been impacted by Arneson's gaming through the years.

It's a very interesting setting, but just doesn't suit my tastes.
