Approaching from the northeast, larger cane is seen to grow from the east face around to the south, as it is protected from the afternoon light, which is hotter. A path, like a game trail through the smaller grass, is evident in the cluster of cane. Moving across the north to the west, it appears that the raptors overhead have a nesting site on an inaccessible ledge of the rock. Though welcome crabs still wander through the mud, there are no snails, and it is highly likely that the movements of the tides do not push salt this far into the marsh. The water is more fresh but still not exactly potable.</p><p></p><p>Keeping a distance so as to not attract attention from any denizen that might occupy the surroundings of the rock, the two are only able to make their way to the west side before needing to make camp for the night. Fortunately the small crabs that dominate the landscape are only active during the day so that sleeping on the ground becomes possible.
