An update, for those who are interested. We had our first session last night. The Witchwood, where all the action is taking place, is being overrun by the Red Hand; goblinoids and their giant allies are rampaging across the forest, looting and burning every settlement they come across. Our characters were summoned by the Witchwood council, a loose alliance of the regions Druidic element and the native Elven inhabitants. Arriving at the designated meeting place, a village where the druids dwell, we were met with the stench of burning buildings and spilt blood; elves were engaging hobgoblin raiders in combat. Our characters were out-numbered: 4 against 17. Needless to say, the hobgoblins never stood a chance. It was a bloodbath; our characters ripped them to shreds with almost no injuries (the exceptions being Yogira, the rogue, fumbled and stabbed herself in the foot). Our DR of 10/silver served us well. Naturally, things will get tougher, but I'm feeling optimistic about the adventure so far; we seem capable of handling ourselves while being out-numbered by hobgoblins that equaled our levels. We have a number of healing potions, wands, and the like; we even have healing belts.
