I have seen that type of behavior as DM far too often, and sometimes wonder if that is where the paladin's Pokemount comes from.  Back when I actually got to play the GM used to wish that I ignored my familiar. A big, black, fluffy Angora cat named 'Floofy'. Once he started off the adventure by saying 'Your wizard is in his workshop, deep in serious study...' I pulled out a bit of string and bounced it up and down saying 'Get the string, get the string Floofy!' Other times it was 'Are you a cute little fluffy wuffums? Yes you are, yes you are!' I based the character off of one of my mother's friends. The familiar was based on a cat we once had, among its other odd behaviors - it would hide in the bathroom if the bath wa running, then jump in while the person was taking a bath. In the process going from fluffy black cat to purring wet rat. The only cat I have ever met who liked baths. It also went berserk over tomato sauce. Sweet, sweet cat.On the other hand the DM never had anything to say when I told him 'My familiar is with me.' Since I made a reference to him every week. My wizard's familiar was his trademark item.As a paladin I had a horse named Peony, if any of the other players made comments I told them that Roland's horse was named 'Butterfly'...As good an explanaition as any for the prices in the rules...The Auld Grump</blockquote>
