They are steadfastly loyal and obey the orders of the king.</p><p></p><p>Secrecy: </p><p>Moderate.</p><p></p><p>The existence of the Knights is well known throughout Kinrisar. Each of the six citdels are clearly marked as chapter houses. Knights and their leaders appear in public displaying their livery and coat of arms.</p><p></p><p>Not all members of the Knights travel openly as such. There are secret members who report to the citadel commanders directly. These Knights exist outside of the normal hierarchy of command. Few of these attain a rank that would necessitate a public appearance.</p><p></p><p>Symbol: </p><p>A mailed fist upright on a black field.</p><p></p><p>Motivation and Goals</p><p></p><p>The Knights serve and protect the royal family Rishi. King Hadri is the commander of the Knights. The Grand Protector accepts orders directly from the crown. It is then his responsibility to bring about the desires of the king.</p><p></p><p>In addition to this, the Knights coordinate the protection of the royal family and heirs. Each household has an assigned Knight Leader who is responsible for security of that household. The house guards are drilled and under direct command of this Knight Leader.</p><p></p><p>Recruiting</p><p></p><p>Candidates for Knight Initiates are drawn primarily from the Infantry and Navy. Moreso from the Infantry. This organization is very prestigious amongst the military. It is very unusual for someone to decline an invitation to join the order.</p><p></p><p>A variable period of training will take place under command of a Knight Leader. Prowess at arms and quick decision making skills are rigorously tested. Each candidate is put through a final exam in which they are charged with training an "irregular" squad to protect a royal family member from harm. The "irregulars" are actually other Knights or house guards who have input on the candidate's passing grade. This testing process is kept a secret.</p><p></p><p>Allies</p><p></p><p>The Knights will often work with the College Arcane to accomplish similar goals. This is not a formal alliance given the fractious nature of the College Arcane.</p><p></p><p>Enemies</p><p></p><p>The Knights are often at odds with two major guilds. The Silver Palm trading cartel and the Mining Guild are these rivals. Open conflict is not seen at the command of the king. The Knights make minimal effort to hide their contempt for these other organizations.</p><p></p><p>Encounters</p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p>Combat and Tactics</p><p></p><p>The Knights are formidable adversaries on the open battlefield. The use their heavy arms and well trained mounts to literally crush their opponents underfoot. Lances are employed in open combat situations with swords used for close combat melee.</p><p>In solo situations, the Knights pick the tactics that work best. At times this is stealth with lighter arms, other situations warrant the heavy arms of a fully equipped Knight. They are taught to be flexible in their thinking to accomplish the mission at hand.</p><p> </p><p></p><p>Strengths and Weaknesses</p><p></p><p>The order works well in both solo and grouped missions. Their constant training and drilling focuses on unit and squad level tactics. There is additional training for solo situations. Constant training hones these Knights into truly deadly instruments of war.</p><p></p><p>A lack of tolerance for people or groups whom the Knights look upon as weak or hostile to the crown is their weakness. It is difficult for any of the Knights to show deference or respect to someone who is viewed in this manner. Cool politeness is the best behavior demonstrated towards such people.</p><p> </p><p></p><p>Weapons and Equipment</p><p></p><p>The Knights are typically armored with a black Breastplate, Half-Plate or Full Plate armor bearing the mailed fist emblem of the order on the chest. Most wield swords and carry large shields also bearing the emblem of the order. Armor and clothing are usually black with gold trimming. Their mounts also are dressed in black barding with gold trim. The mane and tales are tied with gold braiding.
