Would anyone care to comment on or suggest any restaurants in the neighborhood of the convention center? Here's my take on a couple of places: Barley's Brewpub: Right across the street from the convention center. Good food, and the fresh-brewed beer is outstanding. Price-wise, it's about on par with Friday's. Damon's: Right across from the Hyatt. I have not eaten there. Flatiron: Across the street from the Hyatt parking lot. Very good Cajun-style food, very reasonably priced. An excellent selection of liquor. Kind of cramped, though, and, as far as I can tell, it's not air-conditioned. Hyatt Restaurant: The sitdown place in the Hyatt, whatever it's called. Overpriced and mediocre food. I'd advise sticking with the food court instead. Also, stay out of the Starbucks next door - you can get better coffee at the stand in the Atrium. Strada: Upscale place nearby that I've heard very good things about. Pricey, I've heard. Gordon Biersch: Chain Brewpub near the Arena. I've never eaten at this one, but tried the one in Las Vegas and it was very good. Particularly good are the garlic fries. Big Bar on 2: In the Hyatt. The traditional place for con-goers to unwind after a long day of gaming. By 9 PM it will be packed and can get very smokey, for those who are bothered by that sort of thing (I am.) Drinks are moderately overpriced, but this is the place to hang out at the end of the convention day. Food Court: In the Ground Floor of the Hyatt. This is one of the things that makes the Greater Columbus Convention Center such a great place for a con. Above-average fast food, convenient and cheap. The selection includes Subway, Charlie's Steakery, Mykonos Gyros, a burger place, a Chinese place, and a new (I think) Cajun place that is very good. There's also a place that sells sugared nuts and a tobacco shop.
