2009 Origins Game Fair - Origins Game Fair

A number of us have expressed an interest in going this year. Here's the 411:

Time: June 24-28
Place: Columbus OH
Cost: $60 for all 5 days or $30 per day (pre-registration)

Also:
Educator - Free badge. The Educator’s Hall Pass program is open to teachers at all grade levels, resource center specialists, school librarians, principals, college professors, homeschoolers, and public librarians. Gives access to all areas of Origins and allows ticketed game play. Contact our Educator's Hall Pass at events@gama.org and see more details about our Educator's Track.

Military Service Members - Origins supports our men and women in uniform. We offer half-Price FULL SHOW Badge Admission ($30 during Early Bird and Pre-Reg) too all current and retired members of the Active Duty, Guard, and Reserves.

They seem to have a ribbon system for games in addition to individual ticketing. This would allow someone like me to pay $16 to play all the boardgames I want for all 5 days whilehaving the option to pay individual fees for games outside of the BG room.

I'm also opening a thread at BGG to get some people to compare Origins to GenCon

Thanks for the work Bob! I'll try and track down some hotel info. Post here soon if you're even a little bit interested in going with us. =)

Start working on the grandparents. It's only 5 days. ;)

Seriously, how long does everyone want to go for? I don't necessarily need all 5 days, but I need more than just a weekend. :) I figure I'll get a room and you chip in for whatever part of the 5 days you use. Having someone to split the cost with for the majority of the 5 days would be sweet and on days when more folks are staying, it gets even cheapers. =)

If I can even get time off, and come up with the money, I'd like to do Friday/Saturday at the show. Maybe head up on Thursday afternoon and leave Sunday afternoon.

I might be able to manage two days and one night. I will just plan around when everyone else is going. I don't know what days the games are on at this point either...

I don't believe that information is even available yet. I'm not sure when we'll know that. You can pretty much bank on being able to play all the most popular board games and new ones. I know you can compete in the Settlers tournament and plenty of train tournaments for the Ticket to Ride and other train games.

yes, but those tournaments are likely to spread over a few days, so I will need to know
settlers is something I could do for sure...
