My origins experience. 3.5 news Drove from philadelphia to Columbus wednesday, got there by 2pm do play in Veluna Day of Courage, where I got to play 2 Veluna region Living Greyhawk games before the show. Thursday I didn't have anything prereged, so I went to the line for adding events at 8am. I got trhough it by 9:10, and ran to a MTG sealed deck Onslaught block tournament, my first MTG tourney in about 2 years. I won my first game, lost my second, and dropped to go check the dealer room briefly. 2pm I was supposed to judge Living Arcanis, which I knew zip about (but had read the mod) so was happy there were enough Arcanis GMs so I could judge LG Face Value, which I was also slotted for on friday. My table seemed to enjoy themselves. Then I played my only other non RPG for the weekend, a table of GIANT-SIZED Settlers of Catan. Standard game (my favorite) but on a big miniatures seized board. Somewhat awkward to trade with the player accross from you, but had fun. Tied for second. I checked the dealers room for Citizen Games, to get a copy of the masterscreen (4 panel). They didn't have a booth, but the book showed them sharing one with 2 other small companies. They weren't really there, because of their recent issues with company control. Some copies of dungeonner, but no masterscreen. I finally found a local dealer who said he could get one from his store the next day, so I picked it up then. Very nice. Heavy board, and not warped (the 3 panel one I almost boght one was warped) Friday began with my second Face Value table, a low APL one this time. Again fun was had. We finished in 3.5 hours (an omen!) so I left for the dealer room. now I saw that wotc had the 3.5 books availble for perusal. Oh, and I was looking up the Boccob's Blessed Book (my wizards obsession). Since scribing was going down to 100gp per page, and spells at 1 page per level, I was tring to guess the new BBB price. It went up. Price about 12000 gp I think. Because it holds 1000 pages, that can be copied into for free. But the desciption said "without paying the 25 pg per page cost" huh? I thought 3.5 said the cost was 100gp. Check PHB to confirm. Yep 100gp. I asked a designer standing there. His face fell. I caught the first erratta I got a promo minature by asking about the minis. They look much more like true 25mm then the Reaper/Chainmail/Warhammer 28-30mm. maybe it's mold shrinkage. The promo was the dwarven axefighter. The paintjob isn't as bad as the WOTC site makes it look, but its not stellar by any means. I picked up alot of other minis too. Some Armorcast barrels, a Warmachine Cryx box set, and 2 khador guys. Iron Wind/Partha had some dinosaurs and a $2/ounce bitz box where I got a giraffe a wolf and a snake. They also have a nice "skinny" chimera. Wizkids definitely seemed like the more active booth.
