[OT] Anyone good with animated GIFs?

I'm trying to make some animated GIFs for the web page of my Story Hour. The idea is that when you mouseover a button, it animates and goes from state A to state B. When you mouse off the button, it animates again and goes back to State A.

What's the problem? My gifs seem to 'stutter'. They work fine the first time, but after that, they 'flash' the last frame of the gif before going through the animation. It looks crummy.

If someone can dissect my example GIFs and tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'll give you a cameo in my Story Hour. I made them using Painter 5.0 on the Mac, but if I can get the results I need by tweaking them on the PC I've got one of those too.

Remove the last dot from the URL. VBulletin's URL parsing has a few hiccups.

Thanks, Hong. I forgot about the periods. I'll edit it out.
As for browsers, I've tried it with Opera & NS 6 for Mac, and IE (I forget which version) on Win98. Same 'stutter' problem both ways.

Did you try working with the alchemy GIF construction set?

It works perfectly with IE 6 and WinME. It's a very cool effect, even.
