[OT] German School Shooting

RogueJK

It's not "Rouge"... That's makeup.
I just saw the news... :(

For those of you who haven't heard:
http://www.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/europe/04/26/germany.shooting/index.html

Our German members have my deepest sympathies. I, as an American, have experienced similar tragedies far, far too many times in the past few years.

Any thoughts that you would like to share? Comments? Reactions?

(Note: Please don't let this turn into an argument over gun control. Take it somewhere else.)

I was shocked, of course.

The worst thing for me was that the number of victims ascended over the course of several hours. First 2 dead, then 6, then... so you really knew that all this was going on while you were listening.

I don`t know what to post without sounding "heartless"... It`s one of these terrible incidents that you hear in radio or watch in TV, but you are not there, so you can`t really know how terrible it was for these people.
So, I usually just get the most important information, and then, I drop the theme. I doubt I can help anyone over there just by regarding news or talking about it, and so I only hope this will never happen to anyone (especially no one I know, even if that sounds selfish...)

This one was like a punch in the gut...not because it happened, there have been incidents like this in the past already...but because of how it happened. 17 dead...over a span of hours. A 19 years old coming to his old school, killing 14 teachers and classmates...and policemen...I always wonder if this couldn´t have been avoided by better care... :(

I'll admit that it is incredibly callous but my first feeling after hearing the radio report on this during the morning was incredible relief.

They didn't mention the shooters clothing. They didn't mention the music he listens to. They didn't mention computer games, roleplaying games, or any of the other stuff I find enjoyable.

So I and my friends (hopefully) will not be threatened, hasseled and misunderstood and in general harrased like we were after the Colombine incident.
