I saw this on PTI today and was like 'WHAT?!?!?!'

My heart just sank to the floor. I'm a big Hockey fan and an avid Penguins freak. Herb Brooks was a big part of their organization.

Go with God, Herb, and know you will be missed deeply.

Not a hockey fan otherwise, but I still remember the Miracle on Ice as the greatest sports moment of all time.

This is sad news, indeed.

I remember the wonderful shock back in 1980 when the U.S. team beat what everyone thought was an invincible Soviet team.

May Herb Brooks rest in peace and his loved ones be comforted in this hour.

Herb Brooks was a big part of the greatest US victory ever, in any sport. He will be sadly missed by all of us in the hockey community.

A very sad day. I remember the "Miracle" fondly, too. I am a Pens fan as well, so it's a double hit.
