Wow, now this is an interesting thread! lol I played Champions from 1st Ed. to 4th Ed. over a period of 15 plus years. I've been playing 3E since it was released. The biggest difference between the two systems for me is I can literally play any genre with Hero and even mix those genres where as with D20 I pretty much have to wait until the specific genre book comes out. I like the D20 system because I'm an adult gamer with not as much free time as I use to have. I don't want to learn Call of Cthulhu, Deadlands, Fading Suns, L5R, 7th Sea and any other game system out there to play those games. Sure, they might have some outstanding mechanics but frankly I want to play those games and understand what I'm doing pretty quickly. By learning one system I can do that. With that being said Hero is even more along those lines. You can do whatever you want. No, it's not for everyone but what game is? It's just a game. People munchkin every game. That's why there are Game Masters. ;) Back when we were playing Champs hardcore one of the GMs had a rubber stamp that had the word BOGUS on it. If he saw that you had written up a twink character your sheet got the stamp. ;) Overall, Champions, in my opinion, is still the best super hero RPG out there. I may not play it every week like I use to but I've as yet found a game that does what Champions and the Hero System can do. But that's just me. All gamers have their favorite system. Having fun is what the true goal is with all games. As long as you're doing that then you're good to go. :) ~Derek
