Giant Mutant Grasshoppers.

Monstrous grasshoppers -- too nasty-tempered and toxic to be eaten by natural predators and too big to be bothered by conventional pesticides -- are on the rampage in Central Florida this summer.

I say mutant because I seem to remember reading somewhere that they have become resistent to certain pesticides...but since I can't come with a source take that with a grain of salt.

I always say, if you can kill the critter, then kill what it (they) eat.

I think the army still has some Agent Orange around that could clear out miles and miles of plant life.
