I once interviewed many of the older residents (70 year of age +) about the cemetary and the legend in particular...It appears that back in the mid to late 1970's a bonified satanic cult (not high school kids with beer kegs) held their mass in the abandoned church (which at that time, apparently still had a roof on it). As the 1980's were rolling around, the cult either disbanded or changed their public face (all of the residents interviewed were more than a little reluctant to discuss the actual demise of the cult), and the church hasn't been used in that capacity since.The present legends about the church have been largely manufactured by over-imaginative youth that live, not in Stull, but in surrounding communities.
