[OT] My players are pretty cool..

We'll i've been playing for about 20 years now and Dming for about 18 of them and this is the first time my players bought me something. That's pretty cool, especially considering they're a bunch of young'ens (18s and 19s).

They got me the 2nd Ed. module The Apocalypse Stone by Jason Carl and Chris Pramas. I wonder if they really know what they're asking for......

Muhahahaha :)

that is a pretty cool adventure.....but it is even cooler that you got it for free........

Yep. :) I got six newbies interested in 3e and so far two of them are starting to branch out into DMing. Its nice to see new blood in the game and its nice (and sometimes funny) to see the ideas they come up with.

My favorite so far has been when they were attacked by a gibbering mouther and it used its gibber ability. One of them cast comprehend languages because she wanted to see what it was saying. I was stunned. :) Damn funny, but i gave her extra XP for being so creative.

Of course, it means i can use all my DM tricks since they've never heard of any of them. :) I was surprised they got if for me because, generally, they squabble like kids about who owe's who for what meal. It let me know that that value the effort I put into running the game.

Now, i have to read the thing and figure out how to kill them all.

Good point. We need more "My group rules" messages.

I am a pretty normal guy, generally not very plugged in to geek culture (not much interest in comics, anime or even a movie geek). But I answered a "gamers wanted" ad at the local game shop. Our group is pretty ecletic. I'm a young law student, with grad student financial desperation and healthy swath of impressionable undergrad companionship. Three of our group are married & gettin' to middle age pretty fast. They have kids. Another guy is a pretty typical 30-something hardcore geek (god love em). Another guy is mid 20's, no college, blue collar dude. And myself. All different levels of education, different ages, different lifestyles. But we get along great, every friday evening, like clockwork. Sometimes one of goes missing (orchestra recital of a child, sick, normal life woes, etc.) but the game always goes on. Normally I probalby wouldn't have met or hung out with teh gang, we with gaming we bond. I wouldn't have it any other way.
