Thought I'd pass the following along to anyone who's read this book. I finished it the other day (liking it quite a bit) thinking it was a complete story only to realize at the end it had more to go. I was a little annoyed to find out that although the book came out sometime in 1998, the sequel was not yet in print and there was no info about what was to come. Anyway, I came across the author's web site and sent an e-mail asking about this and got the response below. Thought it was pretty cool just to hear back from her in two days or at all for that matter. For those that care: Dear Mr. Grimm, Thanks for your note. Actually, my agent and I are screaming down the phone and email wires almost daily trying to get a firm date from Tor (which seems to be going through some kind of scheduling chaos at the moment). All I'm being told so far is "probably spring 2003" for IN FIRE FORGED, and we're hoping to get a definite date any moment now. Anyhow, I know that's a long wait between books -- sorry! This is something both Tor and I are eager to improve upon in future, each of us wanting no more than a year between my future releases. There will be more books in the series, though I'd have to be much more far-sighted than I am to know how many. This particular story ends with IN FIRE FORGED (rather than being a never-ending tale -- I cannot stand never-ending tales!), and I'm currently waiting for my agent and my Tor editor to conclude negotiations for two new books in the series -- which will be related novels, but stand-alones. Anyhow, thanks for your patience, and I hope IN FIRE FORGED proves to be worth the long wait! Laura Resnick
