Like many others, back when M:tG came out, I tried out the craze. I played for a while, and like many, eventually lost interest. Before that, though, I bought a whole mess of cards, and kept decent care of them. Now, I look at them - I have betas, I have moxen, Black lotus, unopened boxes of boosters, and so on - and realize that they represent a fair chunk of change if I deal with them properly. However, I haven't been in the CCG circles for a long time. In order to deal with them properly, I need to do some research... So, those of you who have or do buy and/or sell cards - give me your advice! What has happened to card prices recently? Have they been dropping, rising, or staying steady? What websites or publications have accurate/up to date/reasonable price guides? Who has good guides to judging card quality? I don't want to go seeling cards as "very fine" if they are really "near mint", and vice versa. Who do you tend to sell to, and where/how? Do you sell to websites, or game stores, or prefer to sell to individuals? I'd imagine you'd get slightly less money per card selling to a retailer, but might win in ease of sale. Does your local game store do anything to support their customers selling to each other? Do E-bay auctions tend to give high, or low prices? Do you find it more efficient to sell in large batches, and if so, do you find that you lose out much compared to selling a card at a time? I think you get the picture. I need information to make informed decisions.
