Two Towers I completely agree with Ruleslawyer in every respect. In the book, Faramir like Galadrial were tested by the ring and win out in the end. The charisma, inner strength, moral convictions, and a sense of Faramir's great leadership, are missed completely in this movie. He is the complete opposite of Boramir his brother and this is certainly lost in the movie. Eomer being banished was silly, but I guess it was a good way to get a dramatic ending to the battle for Helms Deep. The Ents were overlooked in this movie almost completely, except for the battle at the end. The relationship with Treebeard, Marry and Pipin should have been developed a little better along with the Ent drink (which I can't remember) and the strength of Treebeard (Fangorn) and the rest of his ents… Gimli and Legolas were..., well good but ..... Sometimes I think they were in the scene just to get cheers...come on surfing down the stairs on a shield.. Then stabbing yet another orc in the next with an arrow. I think I will get queasy if Leagolas does that again in The Return of the King. Then the whole dwarf tossing thing was sort of funny in the first one but kind of silly now...Just have Gimli make a mad rush in the fray and do what he does best... no cheesy lines please... The battle at helms deep to me would have been much richer if the Ents had truly taken a more active role like in the books. Done with the bad now with the good. Eowyn was played beautifully; the character development was played out much better than the book did. I absolutely can't wait to see the Beautiful Eowyn Shield maiden of Rohan, in action in The Return of the King... She will be awesome. If Peter didn't change that too... Gandalf leads a much more developed part than was ever explained in the book, which to the actors credit is great. Plus we get to see Gandalf actually kick some arse......Which is not done throughout the book except in Moria, and Gondor. So I am sure the next one he will truly be inspiring. Aragorn still even after this move makes me want to pick up a sword and fight.. the character's lines were written well and his action scenes are incredible. The Actor Vigo makes this character come alive. I didn't like the elves coming to the rescue of Helms deep at first but now that I think about it, it was a good plot enrichment. (This of course didn't happen in Tolkiens book) I even like Arwyn's character, and the romantic problems between elf and man. The movie explains it much better than the books ever do. But Tolkien was not a very good romantic novelist, so I think Peter has done a great job here... Just my Two scents worth.. Halma
