No. It is obvious the guard robot just watches the thieves taking your stuff.

Seriously, it probably records the crime in progress and calls the police number and delivers a message.

I serious doubt he can call the police or even recognise people, we are still miles away from that technology.

Last night I saw an infomercial on a robot that vacuums your house.

Basically, looks about the size of a frisbee, and it zooms all over your house.

Pretty neat. Probably do just about as good a job of guarding your house, because burglars might just trip over it.

Actually, I have seen machines that could recognize the human shape.

And even if it couldn't recognize shape, all it would have to do is walk around the apartment and detect for motion. If it detects motion a built in cellular phone calls the police and plays a pre-recorded message or something.
