(OT) Things to do in Boston (when you're a tourist)

First Post
I'm heading up to P-Kitty's territory next week and was thinking about gaming stores in the downtown Boston area. My hotel is on (I think) School Street.

I'll also be heading over Hah-vahd Yahd and M.I.T., so any in that general area would be good to know as well.

Huzzah! Thanks P-Kitty!

I'm heading north from Washington D.C. (Re: 3-feet of snow last month), so I'm used to the sub-arctic temperatures. The Weather Channel said it was going to be around 47F next weekend, so things should be pretty good. We're driving up, but sticking with public transportation for the duration of our stay.

As a local, are there any tourist traps to avoid/must-see? Is the Sam Adams Brewery tour worth the hike all the way across town?

My favorite touristy thing around here is the Maparium at the Christian Science publishing house. (green line, e train, symphony). Its a giant glass globe that you walk through the center of on a bridge. its just neat. (the mother church beside the publishing house is also great if you like architecture)

Don't walk the freedom trail. Its just this red line. I never saw the point.

My favorite Boston attraction has always been the Constitution.

It's very cool, and especially likely to be appreciated by a gamer.

If you're in the Copley square area take a minute or 60 to go into the main branch public library.

The research library is in a great old pile of a building, and if you go to the top floor they've recently cleaned the John Singer Seargent murals. (anyone who works there can direct you). They also often have random and interesting exhibits of local artists or relating to Boston history.

The lending libraray is attached and a very nice place to go for books, but of less interest to the non-local visitor.
