[OT] Virus Warning

Just to let you people know (cause I'm getting swamped with calls on it), a new virus got let lose called W32-Gruel-A (the A part scares me). Unlike piddly little virii that just email themselves to everywhere, this virus gives you an NT Autority warning and shuts down your computer about every 60 seconds.

If you have Anti-Virus scanners, may want to get them updates, from what I've heard running a Norton scan immediately shuts the computer donw once you're infected.

You've got your worms mixed up there, I think. The one that restarts your computer every 60 seconds is W32.Blaster.Worm http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.html

W32-Gruel-A is even worse, it actually goes in and starts deleting files. If it hits hard enough, you might not be able to start windows.

This is VERY nasty.

I have a buddy who had no firewall go down to this one.

I hope they find the guy who designed this and string him up by his toenails while everyone who has a system failure each gets one whack at him with their keyboards.

Dang, and I thought I had problems with Blaster Worm. Here's hoping the new antivirus software I bought last night beats up on Gruel A.
