29, and I live in Southampon on the south coast of England. I was born in Torbay, Devon, and lived in the Midlands for about 10 years before moving down here. I was lazy at school, but still managed to get 11 GCSEs and 3 A Levels fairly easily. I've had various office-based jobs throughout my adult life, and despised them all. I eventually quit that to run this site, hoping against hope that I could somehow live off of a web site about one of the things I enjoy most. It sometimes works out, sometimes doesn't. I was introduced to AD&D 1E back when I was 11 or so, upgraded to 2E when it came out and then to 3E when that came out. I've played the occasional one-shot of other RPGs, but it's really always been D&D for me. I am fascinated by English history from about the time of the Norman conquest. I love old buildings; I hate new buildings with a passion, and if I ruled the world, 90% of the buildings would be knocked down and replaced with some decent architecture. I despise the car, feeling that it is one of the reasons that the world we live in today is so ugly, yet I'm a hypocrite because I have one.... I read a lot less now than I used to. These days, I find the quality of fantasy novels to be far less than they used to be, although I couldn't say for sure whether that's because my tastes have changed. My taste in movies has certainly changed over the years, and I find myself looking forward to a low-budget production called "To Kill A King" (about Oliver Cromwell, starring Tim Roth) far more than something like, say, "Hulk" or "X2". I am very much looking forward to "Return of the King" and "Star Wars: Episode III", however. I'm a pedant; I'm stubborn; I argue a lot. Those are, without doubt, my worst qualities. I use far too many semi-colons. I despise exclamation marks, feeling that they should be used only sparingly and in the most extreme of circumstances. I despise even more the practice of using more than one exclamation mark at the end of a sentence, and firmly believe that such people should be shot. I like to visit new places, both in my own country and abroad. The places I most want to visit are Egypt, China and Russia. The only place I'd ever consider emigrating to is Canada but, though I complain about it a lot, I love my own country too much to live anywhere else. I'm a very honest person, and have very high moral standards; one of my flaws is that I expect others to meet those standards, and can be very critical of them when I feel that they don't. I dislike large corporations and bureaucracy, and feel that many companies wield too much power over peoples' lives. I love gadgets, and always want the latest mobile phone etc. I'm the sort who would have a GPS navigaton system in my car if it weren't worth more the car itself. As for cars, my dream car is a silver Aston Martin Vanquish. I wouldn't be seen dead in a Ferarri or a Lamborghini. Like I'd ever have the choice.... Another of my faults is that I can take a dislike to a person very quickly, and am unable to hide it. My girlfriend often chastises me for being rude to people I meet, and it is something I try to reign in. I think it boils down to not suffering fools gladly, and if someone I meet does something of which I morally disapprove before I get to know them well, I find that that colours my whole perception of that person. That, again, is something I try to change. I've made myself sound absolutely horrible! I'm not, I assure you! I do have good qualities too! :)
