A friend gave me a new word game. Well, it's probably not new, but I can't find a "name" for it and can't locate anything on the internet helping me to solve it.
The rules are simple, start with a 1-letter word, then build to it by adding a letter to the beggining or the end of the existing word. Continue until you have the longest word you can reach.
Only non-contracted, non-proper words are allowed. Each additional letter must make a complete word. (Capitalized is ok, so "I" is fine.)
Example:
I > IN > TIN > TINE > TINES would be 5 points.
The best I could construct so far was:
A > AT > ATE > LATE > ELATE > RELATE > RELATE > RELATERS = 8 points
