Here are some pics of the campaign we just finished. A synopsis of the story: The Illithid Concord of Ch’Chitl created a zombie apocolypse plague in order to wipe out the humanoid population of Oerth and take over the world. The Concord placed one of their members, Landru, in charge of their efforts in the Underdark and on the surface to spread the plague. Unbeknownst to the rest of the Concord, however, Landru had his own objectives - namely using his vast intellect devourer hive (“The Body”) to enslave an army of humanoids, which he hopes will allow him to gain dominance over Oerth and his fellow mind flayers in the post-apocalyptic world. Two years prior to the start of the campaign (and unknown to any of the players/PCs), one of the PCs was captured by Landru's forces and became part of “the body,” and rechristened “Blancoesque.” In the next 18 months with the hive of Landru, the new Blancoesque rose to the ranks by leading Landru’s forces against their Underdark foes, using the plague as a weapon. In due time, a PC friend of Blancoesque (from his previous life) managed to procure a wish scroll that, in effect, replaced the “soul” of the intellect devourer in Blancoesque’s body with his old “soul,” and teleported him to the other PC's side. Blancoesque's memories of the events of the preceding years were suppressed by the wish. So in effect, Blancoesque became his former self, except he was now (unbeknownst to him) actually an intellect devourerer in a host body, but with his old "soul" in place of that of the intellect devourerer's. Shortly after the campaign began, the PCs were arrested and brought before the High Council of new Pavis (where the PCs live). The council surprisingly (to the PCs) said a divination spell had shown they were responsible for the plague, and were geased to end it. The PCs were thoroughly confused/confounded at this point (since they didn't know how/when they had been responsible for the plague), but Blancoesque's memories gradually came back in dreams, and they were able to thereby determine they had to go to the Illithid city and find a cure to the plague. There is much more if anyone is interested.
