It was utterly black on the chasm floor, and, had it not been for the magic cast upon his person by Kamael, Brinn would've been able to make out next to nothing. The front of Brinn's tunic burned brightly with magic, shedding light in a twenty foot nimbus of clear light, and another twenty feet of dim light beyond that. Brinn waited for his eyes to adjust. He could see Jimjar, Stool, and Turvey, and a limited amount of terrain within a forty foot scope. By straining his ears, Brinn could additionally hear the drip of water. The ground beneath the basket was dry and made of compacted sandstone. Brinn could hear the roar of the waterfall, and spied the edge of the pool roughly forty or fifty feet to his north. The cliff face was to the west. And he could see the natural rock of another cliff face to the east, perhaps thirty or forty feet away. From his present position, Brinn could not detect any passageway out of this place. Turvey was quiet for now, but Brinn could sense Stool's anxiety through the telepathic bond; the sproutling didn't know the way home to Neverlight Grove, only that his need to return was desperate. Brinn heard Jimjar speak. "I don't know the way to Neverlight Grove, no. Only that it's sixteen days or so to the south and west of Blingdenstone, though that's by word of mouth and not direct knowledge. By my reckoning, we'd need to take the north passageway out of here and either cut across or go around the northeast curve of the Darklake to get to Blingdenstone. There's a kuo-toa city about eight days on foot from here, and it's on the shore of the Lake. If Shuushar survived the fight, he might know. He's kuo-toan." Jimjar paused. Brinn could hear the uncertainty in his voice. "No matter which way we head, it'll be tough without food and drink." Kamael left the chest untouched inside the bed chamber. He noted the open cut-out in the floor of the bed chamber, but left it alone for now. Returning up top to the others, Kamael bent over and searched Asha's body. He found a set of keys to the outpost on her belt. [ooc]Solace's light spell is still in effect, despite her being unconscious (doesn't take concentration to maintain), but she cast the spell on the handrail to the rope bridge (post #190). Unless she also cast light on Kamael (I hadn't thought she had?), it would've been pitch black when Kamael went down below into the bed chamber. The light spell will still be in effect on the rope bridge handrail, however. The spell lasts an hour. It might be a good idea to cast it on your person so that it moves with you.
