The lock snapped open and no trap activated. Inside the chest, Solace found a small purse containing 20 gold pieces, a black velvet mask stitched with silver thread in a spiderweb pattern, a set of bone dice engraved with Elvish script, a small black velvet bag containing a spider-shaped onyx brooch, and a metal flask containing a syrupy substance that, when uncapped, smelled overpoweringly of licorice.</p><p></p><p>Kamael sipped each of the two clear blue vials of liquid that smelled of almonds.
