Solace affixed a light spell to the torch handed to her by Ce'rek, then lobbed the torch toward the north and east. She hoped to hit near the point, by the water's edge where the rocky shore abutted the inky water of what she could only guess was The Darklake. The toss was, however, a miss. Ce'rek kept a keen eye out, and, pressing himself flat against the west wall of the passageway, stayed hidden while Solace mucked about with the torch and a bit of spellcraft. [ooc]Dexterity DC 12 to hit that square at Solace's current angle, Kobold Stew. Failure by five or more means something unexpected happens ("no, and..."). Pick one of the following and narrate Solace's response: 1) the torch falls into the water with a loud splash at K2 and sinks but its light remains glowing beneath the water; 2) the torch falls into a tangle of dry reeds at J8, flushing out a creature; 3) Solace lobs the torch so hard that it flies well past her intended mark, landing in P4, and coming to a skittering stop in T5.[/ooc]

Raza permitted the driftglobe to bond with her, feeling as she did that this item was hers and hers alone. Was it a trick of the light, or did the orb seem to preen a little under her careful touch? Kamael repeatedly attempted to establish communication with Solace, but his message spell failed to hail her. Or she was incapacitated and unable to respond. The seconds ticked by, slowly. Brinn became one with stone; he fell into a meditative stance and ceased moving. Indeed, even his breath slowed, coming to a near stop. The absence of Brinn's response to the cavern's quiet stimuli calmed Stool. The longer he stayed still and continued to meditate, the more Brinn felt the myconid at his side loosen and relax. After a while, even the telepathic link was peaceful. For the nirvana of several minutes, Stool ceased to fret.
