It's the morning now, I've re-read the IC, and I am of the mindset that my response in the IC will set precedent for the remainder of the game, so I want to get it right. I want ya'll's input on the use of inspiration. If we play by the book, inspiration can be used to grant advantage to an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check. That's it, nothing else. However, this is our game and we can run it how we want. I inadvertently screwed up last night and told KS inspiration would grant 1d6 to Solace's attack roll (we'll let my error stand, though it should have been advantage and not 1d6). Getting back to the larger point, I have, in the past, permitted inspiration to let characters do all kinds of crazy stunts (like hanging from a precipice with a slavering quaggoth next to you, or pole-vaulting through the air to attack a foe, or any other number of cinematic special effects). How do you guys want to handle inspiration? Do you want to stick to the PHB and have it grant advantage to attacks, saves, and checks? Do you want its use to be broader? [QUOTE="CanadienneBacon, post: 6779015, member: 11146"] Right, so it occurs to me I want to externalize the decision on how cinematic we want the use of inspiration to be. I woke up in the night, couldn't sleep, read KS's post for Solace, couldn't immediately decide which way I want to go re: the use of inspiration, and fell back asleep after deciding to think on it some more in the morning. I will wait to forward the IC until all five of you have weighed in. This decision is a big one, and it's your game too. [s]Aside: there's no bannister on the cliff precipice.[/s] Drow don't need no stinkin' bannisters. Not that that changes the discussion...a character could, potentially, still hang from the precipice even without a bannister. EDIT: took the icons off my map and had another look. so, yup, there's a bannister on that section (though not on other sections?!). stinkin' drow...can't even count on them to be consistent in their use of bannisters.
