Thanks, Yavathol. Dance lessons were good. We did a group lesson focusing on the rhumba first (which I enjoyed really a lot because we did turns and position five half-turns mixed into the box step), then had our test. The test consisted of us doing the fox trot and the hustle while the senior instructor observed and made notes. The hustle is easy and loads of fun, I quite like it because I can style with my hands and arms while I'm being spun in a turn. The fox trot is smooth and a little quick, and I like it, too, because the basic steps are very simple and we travel across the dance floor while we do it. I really feel I'm "dancing" when we do those two steps. And, of course, we passed muster. The instructor told us to pick between four and seven dances we want to focus on, and she will build a curriculum for us based on becoming proficient in those dances. We chose swing, waltz (because everyone should know the waltz), tango, salsa, and hustle as our five dances to focus on initially, and then I asked the instructor to give us a price point for adding rhumba and fox trot as well. Shannon asked to learn swing, and I requested tango, salsa, and hustle. We did a lot of fox trot in March during group lessons, and so felt ready to put it to the side to focus on other things. I am looking forward to learning the tango and the salsa. I REALLY WANT TO GO SALSA DANCING. Like, a lot. I want to put on a fabulous pair of heels and something sexy and be taken dancing. Incidentally, I wore my bondage heels to court today. Jesus, those things are the best. I feel ten feet tall and powerful when I'm wearing them. In my 20s, I never thought I'd be a heels kind of woman, but, damn, am I.
