5 out of 5 rating for Outlaws of the Iron Route

I ran Outlaws of the Iron Route at Gamehole Con a number of times, and each experience was different. The scenario does a really good job of investing the characters into the machinations of the NPCs and utilizes some cool moments to really bring the setting of Phlan alive - something I felt was lacking from some of the previous modules. The ending showdown, however, requires careful attention to detail by the PCs and a lot of "winging it" on the part of the DM. The size and makeup of the group, I found, can determine a lot about how they're going to handle the big final section. Stealth and reconnaissance? Straight up fight? Subterfuge and deception? All equally viable options to dealing with the showdown with the eponymous outlaws of the Iron Route. A lot of fun NPCs, though, and a lot of cool background on Phlan that the PCs can actually learn!

I played Outlaws of the Iron Route (my first Adventurer's League outing) at GameHole Con. We had a great table and a great GM, so it's hard to separate that from the quality of the module. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the module. We negotiated with halfling jailers, avoided conflict with a dangerous prisoner, and had to decide between equally unappetizing options before engaging in a pair of entertaining battles. I highly recommend Outlaws of the Iron Route.

Great adventure run by a great DM (played at U-Con with one of the creators). My only gripe is that the overall story doesn't jive with the rewards. Don't mind average rewards. Do mind it when the rewards don't make sense in context. Can't really say much without giving away the plot, but it felt like there was a rewards cap in place that didn't mesh with the story at all. Otherwise outstanding and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I played in this adventure at UK Game Expo and was lucky enough to have it run by Will Doyle himself. It's an excellent adventure full of really cool and imaginative details, with plenty of opportunities for the PCs to use different approaches to tackle the encounters. The player's map of the bandit hideout is brilliant too.
