[QUOTE="Raesene Andu, post: 914940, member: 4825"] I will most likely buy the new revised core rulebooks, although I am ambivalent about the changes that have been made. I do like to have a nice printed copy of the rules nearby as a reference when I writing. That said, I don't think the original 3E were that broken, at least not to the point of needing to have a whole new edition (3.5) to replace the original core rulebooks. I'm aware that WotC constantly refer to this new edition as a "revision" suggesting these new books are just updated version of the core rulebooks, not a major change, but much of what I've seen released so far has been resonably major, almost getting to the point where you NEED to have the new rulebooks to fully use new products released. Now admittedly I tend to think the worst of people, but it appears to me that WotC want everyone to spend the money of these new books (as is understandable, they want to make money after all) and have created a situation where the new core rulebooks become a must purchase item. I note a new product called the complete warrior (or something like that) due out shortly after the core rulebooks are released. Does that mean we are going to have new complete wizard, complete rogue books coming out as well (to replace the old class books released after 3E). I can understand why they would do so (make more money obviously) but I would prefer to see completely new material instead of repackaging old material with just enough new stuff to sell enough copies. Perhaps the writers at WotC have run out of ideas (its possible), or maybe they think all we want is repackaged material with nice new covers and pretty pictures (actually I quite like the artwork :). However, having said all that, it doesn't concern me one way or the other what WotC releases, all I will buy will be the core rulebooks. In the past 3 years I've bought only 5 d&d products (and no d20 ones), including the 3 core rulebooks, so I'm not a big spender on d&d books. I prefer to design my own material, and create adventures on the fly, something I quite enjoy, rather than use bland official adventures that you can only really uses once or twice (and are a complete waste of money in my opinion). I don't need thousand of feats, spells, etc from all the add-on books, and if I buy anything I will purchase campaign settings rather than rulesbooks. One thing that does really make me angry though is the behavoir of some people (especially on these forums) after hearing of the new releases. Their fanatical defence of the changes and rejection of any concerns or debate raise I find difficult to understand or tolerate. Many people have raised concerns (some similar to the points I've mentioned above, others over specific changes) and have been shouted down or ridiculed for their opinions. This has become something of a trend of late and concerns me as it tend to discourage disent and debate, both of which are good things that help promote growth and change. As someone on this forum has already pointed out it was the complaints of whining about 3E that lead to 3.5E that the rabid 3.5 fanatics love so much (although I can't understand so much loyalty for something I haven't even seen yet), and surely that is a good thing? Oh well, perhaps I'm just confused and bewilldered by it all, but I think a little more tolerance and understanding towards those of us who raise concerns and dislikes about 3.5E and other products would be nice to see.
