I believe that for at least some of them the derivation is Yiddish, or at least New York Yiddish. They do not mean quite the same thing, but rather an increasing amount of disparagement, often combined with hand gestures, and in extreme examples gestures with the feet as well. Meh is accompanied by a rotation and counter rotation of the hand, implying 'so-so'. Beh goes along with a back hand gesture with the hand curved toward the front but not closed in a fist - opening as the hand is moved away from the center of the body. Bah is often included with a forward slapping motion,&nbsp; Feh, is similar to beh with the hand brought downwards as though casting something down. Bah and feh are often two handed movements, while I have only see him employ the feet with feh, bringing them up from the floor.The Auld Grump, no, I am not making the above up...</blockquote>
