Some D20 companies have made noises about producing mass combat rules for 3E but have yet to present anything. Chainmail was a bust; originally billed as the 3E mass combat system, it turned out to be a miniatures skirmish game. You might try digging in the House Rules forum here; I seem to recall one of the moderators putting forth a homebrew system. Alternately, you could try to design your own system, or ad lib mass combat, but your safest option would be to keep mass combat in the background (though I admit that would be tough given your dwarf's intentions). If mass combat involving the PCs were looming in my campaign, I would probably scour the net for a homebrew system that I could use - which is, I guess, what you're doing. Good luck.</blockquote>
