The last comparable DDM set was 1 (visible) large plus 4 small or medium random figures for $15. 3 small or medium figures is on average three $4 boxes and one $6 box, for a total of $18 this in comparison to a two year old set. Prices are 20% higher then the most recent DDM product, but you can buy 5 large figures for $30 and $30 would only buy you two large DDM figures and 8 small-medium ones. Also, at a retail level DDM cases were not cheaper then individual boosters. Now you do have a 16-17% discount on a case at the retail level, so that kind of balances out with the 20% price increase. Online retailers might give even further discounts depending on NECA/WizKids policies and the online retailer. I think it won't be as bad as everyone is yelling. DDM was around for eight years, may we be so lucky with the Pathfinder minis... But maybe we we'll want to wait for the actual miniature list, with pictures and the rarities. Then we'll want to see pictures of the actual models instead of the masters, maybe even someone with pictures of a simple wash. Then we go look for local prices and the best discounts. Oh yeah, and some cash ;-) Maybe we'll see some of the rare expensive DDM monsters on ebay if pathfinder has some cheap alternatives. Do I sell rare much wanted monster x for $30 and buy 5 of the Pathfinder equivalent, I only need one of the DDMs for my complete collection ;-) ps. anyone seen the four characters of that first set in real life or has pictures of the actual miniatures you get in the store? Might give us a preview of things to come...
