[QUOTE="Doctor Futurity, post: 7736428, member: 10738"] The only disturbance in the force I feel is that of an old edition war stirring up for no damned good reason, yet again. Pathfinder 2.0 has a very complete and robust product run. It has an earnest and dedicated fanbase. It doesn't necessarily have a fanbase that needs to buy more product for PF1.0 however*, and it also doesn't have a lot more "oomph" in the design department....the game is arguably almost complete by any definition, and iterating off of the current system indefinitely only makes the game more difficult for newer gamers to penetrate. My suspicion is that Paizo sees there is a robust, new, younger gaming market out there cutting it's teeth on D&D 5E and it realizes that the current PF1.0 is still too much of a leap in its current form for those new gamers to progress to. Hell, I'm in the "left Pathfinder but am kinds unsatisfied with D&D 5E's simpler approach, but don't want to have to adopt PF1.0's excessive approach, either," so I'm part of the special demographic of lapsed Pathfinder gamers who are no longer with the flock but might return. I don't even think we in this category are the target....I think the target is a "game system that has an approachable point of entry" for the new generation of gamers, while still having enough stuff to keep as many of the old whales buying as possible. No idea if they'll succeed, but there's almost no way I don't win here. I want to come back to Pathfinder, and they're giving me a reason to. *If you're one of the old guard saying "I have bought too much PF1.0, I will not start over," that's okay, the game you have is complete, and Paizo knows they lost you already. You likely stopped buying products months or even years ago, and probably dislike the new splat books they have released. They've been seeing this trend for the last three or four years, I bet.
