Paizo Publishing®, LLC Launches GameMastery Item Pack: Relics of War Concept Contest
Be the most creative and win!

Paizo Publishing, LLC announced today that they are launching a five-week contest leading up to the release of their next GameMastery Item Pack set, Relics of War. The contest is broken into five one-week installments. Each week, participants will be provided with one card image from the upcoming Relics of War card set. Contestants must then generate a description for that item, including powers and history, and then post their idea to the Relics of War contest thread on the paizo.com messageboards.

Since GameMastery Item Pack cards are designed for use in any fantasy setting, item powers and histories may be submitted using any currently published game system. "These cards are usable by everyone, regardless of their campaign, play style, or game setting," said Jason Bulmahn, Project Manager for the Item Pack line, "so the contest is equally flexible."

Winners will be determined by the staff at paizo.com, and each week's winning entry will be posted on the GameMastery website (paizo.com/gamemastery) along with the card's image. Additional rules and details can be found on the paizo.com GameMastery messageboards.

The first week of the contest begins today, October 16, 2006, and runs through Sunday, October 22, 2006. One winner will be announced at the end of each week, and each winner will receive a free booster display (12 boosters) of Relics of War after the set is released. Further rounds of the contest will take place on the following dates:

Week 2: October 23, 2006
Week 3: October 30, 2006
Week 4: November 6, 2006
Week 5: November 13, 2006

GameMastery Item Pack: Relics of War is due in stores in late November; it may be preordered online at paizo.com or at local hobby stores everywhere.

Relics of War Contest - Week 1 - Winners

Relics of War Week 1 Contest Winners

Greetings everybody. With week 1 of the Relics of War “Design an Item” contest behind us, and the release of the set one week closer, we are ready to announce this week’s winner. It was not an easy choice as there were a lot of really good entries. We narrowed it down to just a few and then picked the best of the best. In the end, TWWombat’s entry of the Marshall’s blade Angeltongue is this week’s winner. The blade has a number of nifty mechanics tied to a great backstory. TWWombat will receive 1 display box of Relics of War booster packs when the set releases on November 23rd.

As an aside, we have an honorable mention to give out. Woontal’s blade for the Call of Cthulhu game was truly fantastic and shows how these cards can be used for any game system, even one that does not focus on fantasy. On behalf of the contest team, I would like to thank all of this week’s participants and I look forward to seeing all of your entries for week 2.

All of the entries for week 1 can be found on our messageboards at www.paizo.com, along with the submission and discussion threads for week 2.

For those of you who have not entered yet, this is your friendly reminder that the week 2 contest closes this coming Sunday at midnight (PST).

There are some good entries already, and I look forward to seeing more.

Relics of War Week 2 Contest Winners

Hello everybody. Week 2 of the Relics of War “Design an Item” contest is now closed, which means the release of the set is one week closer. This week, the item was on old rusted ring, with a fiery red gemstone mounted on it face. We got a lot of great submissions for this week and it was tricky narrowing down. In the end, Scott & Le Janke’s entry proved to be the winner. While we had imagined a lot of ideas based around rusting powers, we never foresaw one dealing with preventing tetanus. Scott & Le Janke will receive 1 display box of Relics of War booster packs when the set releases in late November.

We have another honorable mention this week to give out. Plantling’s Ring of Unmaking was tied to a good piece of fiction and had some interesting powers. On behalf of the contest team, I would like to thank all of this week’s participants and I look forward to seeing all of your entries for week 3. As Halloween is right around the corner, we thought this would be a good week to put up one of the more horrifying pieces from the set, the Demonhide Armor.

All of the entries for weeks 1 and 2 can be found on our messageboards at www.paizo.com, along with the submission and discussion threads for week 3.
