Paladin PrCs. I'm looking, anyone willing to share? (Looking for help from mods too)

Do you think Paladin PrCs are a good idea?

  • It\'s a good idea. I\'m considering it heavily for my current/next campaign.

  • Maybe. Only if the normal version is causing problems.

  • NO! What the heck is wrong with it as it is now?

While I don't mind Paladins being a common choice for PCs IMC--they are supposed to be rare heros after all--this campaign world needs something a little different.

Basically, I was looking for all the Paladin stuff in one PrC (10 lvls). I wanted something that was similar to the Holy Liberator, but not quite so strong. I plan on adding deity spicific things afterwords (SR for a Pal of Mystra, True Seeing for Torm). Each one will be different and each will be VERY strong. I'll hand them out to each Paladin after I look over the god they want.

The trick is that everyone who wants to become one would need to emulate their choosen deity to the extreem. They must seek to be exactly like them, in every way, RP wise. Whether or not they've done this is solely up to the DM, who acts for the gods.

So, anyone have a Paladin PrC written up? Now that you know my concept, let me just say that I want to see any and all that you are willing to share. I'm just looking for something to base it on, so I don't have to do so much typing. ;)

[Edit: What is with those slashes in the poll? I'm sure I didn't type those\. :D Any mods, if you'd be willing to take those out?]

Well, I don't think it's useful to make the paladin into a PrC. You already have lots of paladinesque PrC (the Holy Liberator you mentionned, the Divine Champion, Warpriest, Church Inquisitor, etc.).

In my opinion, the reason why Paladin is a base class and Blackguard a prestige class is that Good accept all good beings, even the unexperienced (who will prove themselves worthy during their initiatic journey, or maybe fail, but they will be supported from start) while Evil is not interested in according its favors to wannabees (only creatures that have proven they are a force to be reckoned with deserve a better role than vorpal-fodder).

I find this stunning. After hearing so much about people thinking the Paladin should be a PrC, no one has written one up?! Nothing? Nadda? Zip?

I must admit that I'm finding it hard to give credence to your arguements right now.

I'm not looking for something spicific to my class. I would just like to read those that others have written up and compare ideas.

So, once again, does anyone have a Paladin PrC written up?

If by Paladin PrC you mean "PrC for paladins", there are a lot. Especially in DotF, of course; but lots of people have made some for their homebrew.

If you mean "PrC that replace the paladin class", I've heard of one or two... That basically mimicked the Blackguard class, but on the Good side and with paladin spells and abilities.

I'm going for the second option. I was figuring that I would just modify the Holy Liberator or do a reflection of the Blackguard but I wanted to check out my options.

Oh, well. Looks like I'll just go with those.

There is a difference between core classes amd prestige classes. the Paladin core class is rather generic, and easily adaptible to any religion.

A prestige class is supposed to be specific, so I've created the version of a paladin for my goods. None of these prestige classes is really a paladin in anyway except thhey hold the same tpy of ideals for their diety that a paladin holds.
