Well, if all you want is to gain Paladin abilities, how about you keep taking levels of Paladin? The Hospitaler exists largely as an option to axe the Paladin's Mount in favour of some bonus feats, though you lose out on the Smite Evil as well, so perhaps it isn't quite good enough. The closest thing to a "get something for nothing" PrC is the Doomguide from Faiths and Pantheons, which lets you carry on being a Cleric (of Kelemvor), and pick up some neat-o abilities on the way. Of course, you do go down to a d6 hit die. (The Doomguide also has some pretty irritating requirements.) Certain other classes may *seem* to be able to take a certain PrC and get their full advancement plus other bennies, but there's generally something missing. The Bard/Virtuoso is typical - you keep almost everything, but lose your progression in Bardic Knowledge. Wizard and Sorceror PrCs seem to be the exception. As a rule, the best of them only ask you to give up your familiar. As to how costly that is, well, each to their own, I guess.
