Let's see... The sorceress casts some sort of spell to assist the party (unseen servant, tenser's floating disk), but for some reason you can develop later, the spell is more potent than its intention (the unseen servant gets its own personality and mannerisms, the disk moves much faster than necessary, or can't be commanded, etc). Two unlikely NPCs at the party (The cop and a member of the crew, a cast member and the ship's conductor) have History, that makes for an awkward situation she should possibly resolve. A stow-away is caught mid-party. More than likely some street urchin type kid. The rival has made an "anonymous" tip to the coast guard that the PC is trying to smuggle contraband on her ship, with the intention of ruining the party. If the PC is friendly (and with the cop friend's help), the coast guard offers to join the party. The Rival being the tipper comes out, and she gets hassled by the coast guard in front of all the guests. Do you have Creatures of Freeport? Have a Vulpine show up. Accordian. The thought of it just fills my heart with glee.
