It's a bit harder if you want to use APs, Adventures, and PFS2 scenarios. I would venture it can still be done. It's really up to what you and your group want to do. My experience in my area is based on a constantly changing player base due to distance issues (welcome to rural America), adulthood concerns (damn kids getting in the way), and just generally life issues like having to work to earn a living (which is way better than not having a job at all).
