Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder compatible products from other publishers?

Haha, lets see if they are faster with the PGL* than WoC with the GSL! :p

*Pathfinder Gaming License.

Paizo already is faster! :D

You can create products for Pathfinder now since the rules are already freely available and open (albeit, not *quite* finalized, with regard to Pathfinder).

It's funny, I've always been a "D&D is #1" guy, but the way WotC has handled 4E has finally convinced me to abandon the D&D brand holder as my #1 publisher of choice.

It's weird.

Other publishers have been doing D&D just as well as WotC since the beginning of 3rd edition, they just don't all have the budget to put as pretty of pictures in their books as WotC does.

For me, it comes down to this: which option represents the gaming philosophies I hold myself: an open beta where all interested fans can participate and contribute in making it the game they want to play, or a super secret system that was developed behind closed doors for purely business reasons that abandons many of the advances in game design put out there with the previous editions?

I'm not saying 4E won't be a fun game, but is it my personal game of choice? I can't answer that yet. I've already adopted True20 over D20 Modern, so I suspect I already know which system my home games will use and which system I'll support with my dollars.

Oh, I agree. Oathbound (and its adventure written by some hack) was pure awesome. Wilderlands is awesome. Ptolus is awesome. The Book of Fiends. Gazetteer of the Known Realms. And so are many others that are certainly on par with anything WotC has done.

But I've always been a defender of WotC as #1 up until now.

It's just weird to be changing in such a dramatic way, but as you say, they have decided on some things which (to me as well) seem to be business-first reasons that I don't agree with. I'm not saying they don't have a right to do so, but it saddens me not to be as interested anymore.

On the other hand, I'm proud to be a supporter of Paizo since they are currently running things *exactly* how I'd want the industry leader to run things. Now if only they could make pre-painted minis....

I love having a setting I can hang my hat on. There were actually only two books in the Oathbound line that I didn't write a signifficant chunk of (the core book and Mysteries of Arena), so I can't help but smile when people speak well of it.

Now start getting interested in Reign of Discordia, dangit! :]
