Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Iconic Girls!

Klaus

First Post
I really liked some of the designs Wayne Reynolds cooked up for Pathfinder's iconics. So much so that I put together this piece showcasing Seoni, the human sorcerer, and Merisiel, the elf rogue.

And in case some of you don't know, I have put together a more streamlined version of my website, to serve as an online portfolio. It can be found at: http://www.enworld.org/Pozas/portfolio.htm

Nice job! I really like how you did the sorceress especially. The new site looks fantastic. Some of my favorite pics of yours are a lot more accessible.

Want to try your hand at some of the other iconics? Maybe the gnome druid?

Very nice!

I like your style a lot better, especially the slightly smaller breasts on Seoni. Works a lot better (sure, not as great for the eye-candy, but fits the outfit now. Not as much accidental boob swinging during combat).

Something about the sorceresses right leg seems disturbingly off to me. I see how that pose would make it appear foreshortened, but still...

Something about the elf girls proportions (limb length to torso ratio) also seems off, but of course she's not human so that could just be my anthropocentric prejudices. ^^ I do like her hair and eyes though. And I'll admit the ears too, although them actually being long enough to protrude above her head is pretty damm long.

Very nice Klaus!

I have a quasi professional legal question. If I wanted to make up a booklet to use only for my games and only make copies for my players to use, would it be OK for me to use your art in such a booklet? If so should I write, e-mail, or find out how to call you for permission? Or is that something you, personally, would be OK with, without me having to ask you for "official" permission?

Just to be clear, this would be booklets for personal gaming group use only, no internet downloading or sharing, strictly personal and small group usage, and yes I would be leaving your sig visible , and now that I am thinking about it, put a art credit in the ToC.

Thanks.

I think its because the direction of our perspective makes her thigh length too short. If we had a perspective from the side it would look right. If you think about it, and have a real life person strike the same pose, from the same angle, their thigh would look shortened as well.

If you do this, realize he has the "viewer's perspective" be from about a 5 foot or so distance, so step back about that far if you do check a real life model.

I really like your sorceress, far more than the original with her mousy face and breast-forwarding unnatural posture (Pathfinder Alphas 2, page 27). I especially liked her attire, which I think you drew much more beautiful and flowing, and her clearer tattoos.

However, her right leg appears crooked, the thigh not pointing in the direction the feet is pointing at; and her right hands rests on her side somewhat unnaturally.

Finally, frankly, I prefer a more realistic painting. While I prefer this work over the original, I think it looks cartoony in comparison. Especially the hair, but also the blur that is her back leg, the lack of detail on the forwards "V" on her right leg, the lack of nuance in the shading of her breast and armpits, the thick outline line... if this is a draft made for fun, this is EXCELLENT, capturing the motion, color and nature of the character beautifully. For a completed work, however, I would expect more nuanced and delicate shading and details even in the less eye-catching areas.
