His parents were killed when he was very young and he grew up with his uncle Markus Inathe, a Cleric of Rinell. Brevin regularly got into trouble while he was growing up, even trying his hand at the thieving profession but quickly found that he didn't possess the necessary skills. He was always pulling pranks and practical jokes on his friends and his uncle.  Markus wanted Brevin to follow in his footsteps and become a Cleric of Rinell but he instead chose to follow Litsi.
